The Wedding of Salli & Lee. The Old Lodge, Malton

It was a blustery morning, but the sun was shining, and upon arriving at The Old Lodge, Malton I was greeted by Eileen and Nicole, and as always, I received the customary warm welcome.

I was due to meet Salli and her bridesmaids in once of the grand hotel rooms at The Old Lodge at 11am to capture some bridal preparation shots, so I called up to meet the girls and started snapping away.

After the Bridal Preparation shots were taken, I rushed down stairs to meet the guys. Lee is in the Army and Lee and his ushers were all trimmed up in their Guards uniforms which made for some really great and colourful photographs. Ross, Lee's Best man wore the traditional groomsman outfit.

The room at The Old Lodge where the ceremony takes place is small and dark, and with restrictions put in place by the registrar, it's quite difficult to get lots of good shots of the ceremony. The service however was lovely, and Salli & Lee tied the knot with close friends and family watching on and sharing in this special time.

Then it was outside, where the wind was blowing and the rain was threatening, but thankfully it stayed dry. The grounds at The Old Lodge are fantastic and offer lots of great photographic opportunities, from the tree lined boulevard to the large willow tree.

Salli & Lee were soon dashing inside to the large dining room for their wedding breakfast. It was 'speeches before the meal' and Lee delivered a short but heartfelt speech and passed over to Ross, Lee's Best man.

The evening of course finished with the customary First Dance, more dancing, and a Hog Roast.

A Busy Summer...

A busy summer and a new found focus on fitness has meant that I've neglected my blog.

But I'm back now and after shooting my penultimate wedding yesterday for 2009, I thought I'd make an effort to update my blog. So here goes...

Since my last post on 18th May, I have been honoured to be photographer at no less than 6 weddings, and at some amazing venues. Congratulations to all of the following;

Christine & Paul, who were married at St. Annes Church, Keighley and had a wonderful reception at Oakwood Hall, Bingley.

Justine & Tony, who had fantastic weather at a fantastic venue, Wentbridge House Hotel, Pontefract.

Claire and David who were married at one of the most beautiful churches I've ever been to, St. Thomas Church, Greenhammerton then on to the Cairn Hotel, Harrogate. David turned up in a Lotus (lucky boy).

Lisa & Niki, who despite the weather had a fantastic wedding day at The Craigland Hotel, Ilkley.

Caroline & Paul, who were married at St. Peters Church, Rawdon then onto Bradford Gold Club for thier wedding reception, drinks and sunbathing.

Claire & Mike who only yesterday were married at my most favourite venue of them all, Goldsborough Hall nr Harrogate.

So what's next, well I have my final wedding of the year on 22nd December in the Lake District, and then we are well and truely into 2010.

Friday 17th October saw the marriage of Jen & Chris in a Civil Ceremony at Weetwood Hall Hotel in Leeds.

It was a great day, and although the wind was blowing and there was a chill in the air, everyone was more than happy to venture outside for some photographs.

The Autuminal theme was perfect, and I late found out that the grounds man had been keeping bags of leavs so that he could scatter them on the lawns ready for Jen and Chris's big day.

Congratulations to Sonia & Andrew

Saturday 11th October saw the marriage of Sonia & Andrew at The Grange Hotel, in York.

Sonia & Andrew were a laugh-a-minute and it was a fantastic atmosphere. The sun was shining and due to the lack of grounds at The Grange, Sonia & Andrew had managed to agree the use of St. Peters School grounds just 1 minute walk away.

The Grange Hotel in York is a fantastic hotel, the staff are extra friendly and the Library where the ceremony takes place is amazing.

Congratulations Sonia & Andrew.

Where have I been?

Since my last post back on 21st August, I can assure you things have not slowed down.

I took a well deserved break to Lake Como in Italy with my wife, Michelle and our little girl Daisy and I returned with my batteries charged and rearing to crack on with Photography.

Before the holiday though, I was honoured to be able to photograph the wedding of Tracey & Richard. This was a particularly special event for me as the reception was at Sandburn Hall, Flaxton nr York which happens to be the venue that we chose for our wedding reception - Oh the memories.

Tracey & Richard had a fantastic day, and were married on 22nd August at St. Laurences Church in Flaxton then on to the amazing Sandburn Hall. The weather held off just enough for some great photographs.

Wedding Shoots on the 13th September and 20th September bring us almost to the present day.

Anyway, must crack on. These albums won't put themselves together !!!

Wedding at York Minster & Aldwark Manor

To take any booking for a wedding is great, simply being part of somebodys very special day is both an honour and privilidge, and Elaine & Matthews wedding at York Minster was no exception.

On the 16th August, Elaine & Matthew tied the knot at York Minster then enjoyed their wedding reception at Aldwark Manor.

Although it was quite windy, the day wa dry and sunny and a few pics in the Minster Gardens amoungst many tourists - it was almost like being famous - I can't image how the happy couple felt.

The journey to Aldwark Manor was trouble free, which meant I was there ahead of Elaine & Matthew so I was ready to greet them with a click !

A fantastic day, amazing venues and a really friendly couple.

Pre-Wedding Shoots at York Minster Gardens

Sunday 10th August saw two Pre-Wedding shoots on the same day!

First there was Sonia & Andrew who are to be married at the Grange Hotel in York in October. although it was windy, thankfully it was dry so we set about getting some shots in the York Minster Gardens.

Both Sonia & Andrew had a fun time and after their Pre-Wedding Shoot experience are counting down to their big day.

Just 45 minutes (and a latte and slice of carrot cake) later, I was back in the Minster Gardens with Tracey & Richard.

Tracey & Richard who are to be married in Flaxton and enjoying their reception at Sandburn Hall on 22nd August arrived ready for some posing, only to be partially rained off. We hid under a tree for 10 minutes until the rain passed then set about getting some photographs.

The sun came out and we got some great snaps, one of which we are using to create a framed image, with an extra large border for guests to sign (a modern alternative to the traditional guest book).

Congratulations to Hannah & Martyn

It's taken me a while to get around to updating my Blog with my latest wedding, but here I am now.....

Hannah & Martyn were married on Thursday 31st July at St. Marys church in Mirfield. The weather was terrible, but there were still plenty of smiles to be seen.

I must say that St. Marys is a really beautiful church, and has some fantastic features which made the photography all the more enjoyable.

After the ceremony we whizzed off to Holdsworth House in Halifax for more photographs and of course the wedding reception. We managed to work around the rain, and got some great images.

I sincerely hope I get the opportuity to photograph at Holdsworth House again, I love the place.

As a special treat (and a new addition to my service) I text messaged a photograph of the happy couple to them whilst they are on honeymoon. This is a specially edit images, ready to be used as a screensaver or background. Hopefullly they received it (and more to the point liked it !!).

Congratulations to Jessica & Ben

Friday 27th June saw the marriage of Jessica Hall and Ben Wilson at St Wilfreds Church in Harrogate and enjoying their wedding reception at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate.

Thankfully the weather held off for long enough to get some great photographs in the Church grounds before whizzing off to the White Hart Hotel.

At time of writing, Jessica & Ben should have just returned from their Honeymoon in romantic Rome. Hope you both had a fantastic time in Italy.

Many congratulations to Jessica & Ben, and here's to a fantastic life together.

Glorious Sunshine at the Monkbar Hotel, York...

When i woke up on Saturday (10th) and saw the beautiful blue sky, I knew Emma and Steve were in for a great wedding day.

It was a new venue for me, the Monkbar Hotel in York, and it's a great venue. In the heart of York, and only a short walk to the York Minster Gardens (a great spot for photography) the Monkbar Hotel is perfectly placed for a wedding ceremony and reception.

Emma and Steve had a fantastic wedding day and evening, and all of the guests did too. And in true York Registry Office style, the Registrar was more than happy for the Photography to take place during the ceremony.

A grat day had by all (including me) - Of how I love my job !!!

After a quiet winter, and spring I found myself thrown back into the depths of wedding Photography with a Wedding on Friday 11th April and then another on Saturday 12th April.

Friday 11th April saw the marriage of Darren & Rachel at Wentbridge House, Pontefract. Although there was rain, that soon cleared and we were able to get out onto the lawns and capture some great pictures. Even the sun came out to watch the event!

Many congratulations to both Darren and Rachel who (at time of writing) will almost be sunning themselvs in Mexico.

Saturday 12th April saw the marriage of Liz and Fraser at Goldsborough Hall. Goldsborough Hall is an amazing venue in fantastic grounds and it carries a lot of history with it (which, when I get time, I will most definately read up on).

Again, there was rain, but certainly not enough to prevent us from grabbing some snaps outside.

I'm in the process of working through the images and they'll be online soon..... :-)

Pre-Wedding Photoshoot @ Wentbridge House

Today, I met up with Darren & Rachel at Wentbridge House in Pontefract.

We had a chat about their forthcoming wedding (11th April 2008) and took a walk around the venue and grounds - just to get a feel for the place.

Whilst we were together, it was a great opportunity to take some snaps! Rachel was a little nervous in front of the camera, and was typical in saying "I'm not very photogenic, and I hate having my picture taken"... needless to say, Rachel was happy with the results!

Today, we updated the website to advertise that Richard Holgate Photography now offer Pre-Wedding Photoshoots.

The Pre-Wedding Photoshoot is a fantastic way to get used to being in front of the camera, is perfect for us to get to know each other better and is a great opportunity for us to wonder around your chosen venue and discuss your specific wedding photography requirements and ideas.

The Pre-Wedding Photoshoot usually lasts around 30 to 45 minutes, and all of the images are available to view and order via the website and you also receive a framed 7"x5" print of your choice.

The cost of the Pre-Wedding Photoshoot is just £35. If you would like to book a Pre-Wedding Photoshoot just Get in touch.

That's right, very soon Richard Holgate Photography will be investing in some high quality portable studio equipment and the website will be updated to show a Portraits Gallery and Prices Lists.
